Antalya Beyaz Dünya
BEYAZ DUNYA MALL 2012

A shopping centre in Antalya which has a big garden for its restaurants to use. We were asked to create spaces in which restaurants could put their tables and chairs.

There were 3 restaurants so we designed and built 3 decks. They had to be square for optimum space usage. Each deck has evergreen low hedging around it, and has an entrance from the pavement.

The old concrete pavement did not match the natural decking so it was removed and replaced with natural stone, laid in an organic design.
In the corners of each deck, big trees were planted to create some shade.

Blue conifers were planted to have some privacy from the road and to help block noise and dust.
Large Magnolias were planted to give scent. A sprinkler system with timers was installed and finally turf was laid.

Flat In Karagozler
FLAT  IN  KARAGOZLER 2011

The house was built by Yeditepe Mimarlik in 2008 in Karagozler. The flat is owned by an Italian couple who come to Turkey often.

We were asked to create a garden for them in which they could sit down and watch the sunset while having a cup of coffee. At first, the garden was more like a wild hillside. We had to build a retaining wall to create a terrace with a smooth, plain space.

We then waited a month for the soil to settle. Then more good soil was laid on top and rollered. We could then build our decks. We planted medium-sized evergreen hedging to the sides. We were asked to plant very old olive trees, a lemon and an orange tree.

They were planted next. We installed a sprinkler system with a timer. Then finally grass seed could be sown.

Villa Icharus
VILLA ICHARUS 2010

VILLA ICHARUS IS IN GOCEK. THIS PROJECT WAS DESIGNED AND CARRIED OUT BY MELISSA GARDEN DESIGN IN 2010. THE VILLA IS A DUPLEX AND HAS A REALLY NICE  COURTYARD, WHICH MAKES IT SPECIAL AS SEEN IN THE PLAN.

THE ENTRANCE IS FACING THE COURTYARD AND DIVIDES THE GARDEN INTO TWO.

BECAUSE IT WAS A NARROW GARDEN WE PLANTED SHRUBS AND CLIMBERS IN CLOSE TO THE GARDEN WALL, SO THAT WE COULD HAVE SOME SPACE FOR A LAWN.

THE PITTOSPORUM BUSHES WERE AGAIN USED AT THE EDGES TO MAKE A SHORT HEDGE.
PEBBLES GAVE A FINISHED EFFECT TO THE GARDEN AND ALSO MADE AN EDGE FOR THE LAWN.

BOUGAINVILLEAS WERE PLANTED TO GIVE COLOUR TO THE STONE WORK OF THE HOUSE.
IN THE COURTYARD AN ARCHITECTURAL TREE AND A CYCAS WERE PLANTED TO GIVE A DRAMATIC EFFECT, PELARGONIUMS AND VERBENAS UNDERNEATH AS GROUND COVER.
Villa In Gocek

  • Old lawn being removed and grass seed sown for new one.
  • Colourful shrubs and climbers planted
  • White stones laid to give a finished effect
  • To disguise a concrete wall, evergreen hedging plants are planted
  • In the very shady parts azaleas are planted
